JOB DESCRIPTION

The Illawarra Women’s Trauma Recovery Centre is an Australian first community led initiative, co-designed with women with lived expertise, professional experts and service providers to offer comprehensive and long term support to women recovering from the trauma of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV). The Centre is an initiative of the lllawarra Women’s Health Centre.

This is a unique role. Reporting to the Director of Programs, Wellbeing and Self-determination, the Mental Health Team Leader is responsible for the provision of multi-disciplinary mental health team leadership, operational line management and clinical service implementation at the Centre.

The Mental Health Team Leader will draw upon their experience and knowledge to effectively partner with victim survivors of DFSV in the planning and delivery of care, establish streamlined referral pathways and contribute to the Centre’s collection of data. The position is required to carry out all duties within a wholistic and feminist framework, as a member of the broader Centre team. This position may require some outreach to other services/places and may include some group work as negotiated/planned, as time and circumstance permits.

You must have a current NSW Drivers Licence, National Criminal Record Check*, a Working with Children Police Check, and be fully vaccinated (and maintain full vaccination status) for COVID-19.

We encourage First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse women, and women with a disability to apply.

The successful applicant will be offered permanent contract starting immediately. A remuneration package commensurate with professional experience will be offered, based on the SCHADS Award. The Illawarra Women’s Health Centre is a union supporting workplace.

Our services are provided only to women. We consider being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and sections 30 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth).

*Please note that having a criminal record will not automatically exclude your application. We recognise that women can have experiences with the criminal justice system that are discriminatory and unjust. We know for example that women can, and often are, misidentified as a primary offender in domestic and family violence situations. We also understand that women can move on from their past.
