The Mindmap Youth Portal is an ACT first initiative, which aims to support young people and their carers seeking mental health support and services. The Portal acts as an online triage and link users directly to information, support, and service providers within the ACT. Users can access the portal via online chat, email, or phone.
MindMap is seeking an individual to manage stakeholder and community engagement with external Mental Health Services in creative ways. There is also the provision of Active Hold which involves remaining a central point of contact and providing supportive counselling for the user while they are on waitlists for services within the ACT.
The Clinical Youth Navigator role involves direct service delivery through the Mindmap Youth Portal to young people, stakeholders, parents/carers, services, and professionals. As the Clinical Youth Navigator, you will respond to enquiries via phone, email, text, and web chat helping users navigate the portal and the mental health system in the ACT, providing information and referrals. The Active Hold component of the Mindmap program will require the Clinical Youth Navigator to provide short term, supportive counselling support for users who are on the waitlist for a service within ACT.
The Role
Duties of the Mindmap Youth Navigator include;
- Part time Role: 15-20 hours over 3 days per week
- Actively monitoring the Youth Navigation Portal
- Community & Stakeholder engagement
- ‘Actively Holding’ clients awaiting services
- Providing therapeutic/generalised counselling support
- Sourcing mental health and wellbeing content
- Attending Expos, Community Events, where relevant
- Promoting the MindMap program to the ACT Community

Ideal person
The ideal person we are looking for has:
- Relevant qualifications including one of the following; 1) Psychology; 2) Social Work, 3) Counselling or equivalent.
- Demonstrated skills and experience working in the mental health sector with individuals, particularly children, adolescents, and parents/caregivers.
- Commitment to and proficiency delivering evidence-based interventions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, and good time management skills.
To be considered for this role you will be also be required to hold:
- a current driver’s licence
- ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
- NSW Working with Children Check
- You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check.
