JOB DESCRIPTION

If you’ve got an interest in Aviation and want to support Army helicopter crews, this could be the role for you. Be part of route planning for the Army’s helicopter pilots or maintaining communication between the Pilot and Headquarters.  

 

The role: 

Helicopters are critical to Army operations and it takes a lot more than a pilot to fly them. Whether it’s aerial reconnaissance, troop mobility, casualty evacuation or firepower support, every helicopter mission relies on the skills of Mission Support Groundcrew personnel. 

In this exciting role your responsibilities will include pre-mission planning and  briefings, facilitating and maintaining ground-to-air communications, and managing the maintenance of radio and satellite equipment, and encryption technology. You’ll also be trained in defence and security of aviation units, navigation, firefighting and first aid. 

If you enjoy working with high-tech equipment and operating in ever-changing environments, you’ll love this job. You will have to opportunity to work on several different aircraft including: Chinook, ARH Tiger and MRH-90.  

 

Location:  
Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in QLD, NSW and the NT. It’s not possible to guarantee a specific posting location for the duration of your service, therefore you must be willing to relocate. 

 

Salary:  
In the Army you’ll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $54,815 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training. 

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $77,451 per annum plus generous super.

For this role, you must be an Australian citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment, hold a provisional or full driver’s licence, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics.
