Not only does Access Your Supports deliver quality support services and empower participants to achieve their life goals with the services available to them under the NDIS, Access Your Supports will also work closely with participants to implement a plan that will work.
JOB PURPOSE
Behaviour Support is about creating individualised strategies for people with a disability which are responsive to the person’s needs. Strategies are developed and implemented in a way that focuses on increasing quality of life, reduces the occurrence and impact of behaviours of concern, and minimises the use of restrictive practices.
Duties:
- Provision of Positive Behaviour Support to participants and their support networks; including training of staff and carers to implement the plan, along with the participant.
- Work effectively with a range of stakeholders including individuals, families, support teams, Local Area Coordinators, NDIA, the Office of the Public Advocate, government agencies and specialist support services when required
- Complete interim and functional behavioural assessments in-line with the PBS Capability Framework
- Work to reduce or eliminate the use of restrictive practices
- Safeguard the dignity and quality of life of people with disabilities.
What we’re looking for….
Essential
- Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy or other relevant allied health field, with current registration to peak body
- Disability sector experience
- Assessed as a core level practitioner as per the PBS Capability Framework or willing to complete prior to commencing employment
- Ability to work autonomously
- Cleared NDIS Worker Screening Check
Highly regarded
- Familiarisation with lodging behaviour support plans on the NQSC portal
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support approaches
In applying for this role, you will be subject to a National NDIS Worker Screen Check. From 1 February 2021 any staff member deemed to be working in a ‘risk-assessed role’ or at the request of management, must undergo a NDIS Worker Screening Check.
