NDIS Mental Health/Peer Support Workers – Melbourne and Geelong Alacrity Health

Alacrity Health are recruiting for all regions of Metro and Outer Melbourne, as well as Gippsland! Work in your area in a rewarding community outreach role with extensive support and progression opportunities.

Please note this is a mental health specific role. Those with only a background in disability/aged care/unrelated health field will not be successful for this role.

Alacrity Health are looking for peer & mental health support workers across Melbourne, Gippsland and Geelong! Please note that this position is currently casual. However, opportunities for PT/FT are available in the future.

Please note this is mental health specific and requires a background/education in the mental health field.

This position forms part of our Mental Health Support Work team that specialise in supporting people with psychosocial disability inside the NDIS, however additional duties, should you be interested, involve attending Alacrity Health day trips, retreats, and other fun activities. Please note that this is a mental health, not a disability role, and applicants are expected to have relevant mental health qualifications and/or experience.

Our community support team (CSW) provides 1:1 or group assistance, utilising their experience to give trauma-informed care to our participants with mental ill health.

Our peer support work team (PSW) operates similarly but utilising their lived experience as a crucial part of their role.

Please note that for the outreach component of your role, you will need to use your own vehicle. Travel reimbursements for this are paid on top of your remuneration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery and development

  • Empower participants with therapeutic supports involving 1:1 mental health support, and support participants to gain/maintain independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, etc.
  • Working collaboratively with consumers to identify their needs, set goals and develop a plan to meet those goals

Administration

  • Record case notes as required
  • Completing reports and client assessments

Professional development

  • Participate in Practice Development sessions (supervision) with manager
  • Actively work to improve identified skill areas

IN ADDITION, YOU WILL IDEALLY HAVE:

  • A tertiary or other qualification, or experience in a related field
  • An NDIS Worker screening check (undertaken prior to commencement)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights including evidence of vaccinations
  • Current Australian Drivers license and vehicle with insurance
  • Computer literacy
