NDIS Specialist Support Coordinator or Support Coordinator/ Recovery Coach position 

 

Full time, Part Time or Casual position available! (4 or 5 days equivalent per week minimum availability working flexibly over the work week)

If you are an existing Specialist Support Coordinator, Support Coordinator or Recovery Coach, MCS is offering the negotiation of a permanent Full-time or Part-time position as you require.

If you do not have experience as an NDIS Support Coordinator, we will provide you with a full training, development and mentoring program if successful.

A casual model is also offered if this is preferred with guaranteed hours but 4 or more days equivalent hours availability is still required across a working week.

My Choice Supports is a significant and established Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching service organisation. We are a flexible workplace provider run by individuals with over 20 years of experience in delivering care coordination for people living with complex and chronic conditions, and disabilities.

We specialise in working with people living with a Psychosocial Disability, however we are well experienced in supporting people living with a diverse range of disabilities.

We have a position available, working in the Perth area for a Specialist Support Coordinator, Support Coordinator and/or Recovery Coach providing support to NDIS Participants.

The NDIS Support Coordinator role coordinates assistance for Participants to build capacity and resilience through strong and respectful partnerships to support people who live with a disability, to live a full and contributing life utilising community, mainstream and formal NDIS supports via their individualised support plan.

The NDIS Recovery Coach role also coordinates assistance to Participants to build capacity and resilience through strong and respectful relationships to support people with psychosocial disability to live a full and contributing life utilising community, mainstream and formal NDIS supports via a Participant’s mental health Recovery Plan. This support is designed to be able to maintain engagement through periods of increased support need due to the episodic nature of mental illness. 

This role works collaboratively with participants, families, carers and other services to identify, plan, design and coordinate supports.

This is a position focusing on quality service provision plus the meeting of high-efficiency targets. 

My Choice Supports has a central and strong focus on support for all staff members including dedicated training, ongoing mentoring, team development as well as a training and development budget to support the successful candidate to deliver the standards required for this role. 

This is a work-from-home position, with outreach to see Participants face to face, as required. A minimum equivalent hours availability for the role is 4 days per week (can be spread over 5 days). There are regular weekly online team meetings/supervisions and well as a strong online team presence.  

Please note that both the Support Coordinator and Recovery Coaching roles have significant non client-facing aspects and requires the successful candidate to enjoy following specific guidelines and pre-determined processes in order to successfully implement the operational requirements of the role from a home based environment, and to enjoy capturing/recording this information in a client management system.

The preferred candidate will have a strong history in working with people with a disability, has a self-directed passion and drive to support capacity-building activities for the people they support, a compassionate and collaborative approach to their work, a proactive and quick mind as well as thrive on finding innovative solutions to complex situations. 

Dedicated and ongoing on-the-job training, supervision, mentoring and upskilling is provided on a weekly, and daily basis as required.

General hours of operation are Monday to Friday working flexibly between 7am to 6pm depending on hours which suit the staff member.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will ideally have these qualities:

  • A positive outlook, a quick mind and a proactive attitude
  • NDIS sector experience in each role 
  • Have at least 2 years experience in a case management role working with people with a chronic and persistent mental illness or people with disabilities, and working with their families utilising Recovery Oriented/person centred principles. 
  • Experience within and understanding of relevant mainstream and community support services;
  • Recovery Coach role: A tertiary qualification in peer work or mental health (minimum of Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or Certificate IV in Mental Health) or equivalent training and/or a lived and/or learnt experience of mental health;
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within organisational and legislative guidelines, procedures and policies;
  • Strong computer skills, with experience in Microsoft applications and Client Management Systems
  • Evidence of a secure home workspace
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, independently as well as a part of a team;
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, manage and organize own workload in a complex environment;
  • Drivers License and willingness to utilise own vehicle for travel as required, with vehicle insurance acknowledgment for use of car for business use;
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (can be gained after a successful application).
