Neuroaffirming Occupational Therapist – Mental Health Amherst Psychology

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Are you passionate about mental health and neuro-affirming care?
  • Want greater choice regarding your caseload / client presentations and focus on doing work you love?
  • Seeking quality clinical supervision and professional development within a supportive team?

A bit about us

We’re a busy private practice that is home to a diverse team of skilled and enthusiastic mental health practitioners. Our Canning Vale office is a beautiful, calm space for our team, clients and caregivers to enjoy, with large consulting rooms and an even bigger team/workshop room. We think we’re a little unique in that we care equally for the wellbeing of our team, our business and clients. Whilst we offer a wide range of therapy and assessment services, it’s no secret that we’re particularly passionate about the areas of neurodiversity affirming and trauma informed care.

Our dedicated and experienced administration and clinical support staff make your life easier and ensure a smooth-running practice, so you can focus on what you’re great at!

About the role

This fulltime or part-time (minimum of 2 days per week) opportunity is based at our Canning Vale practice and involves the provision of mental health OT services to children (age 5+), their parents, and adults.

Whilst, we’d love to hear from applicants who are eligible to provide OT services under Medicare’s Better Access initiative, this is not essential.

About You

You’re passionate about neuro-affirming practice and you love the idea of working with children and young people only, or you may prefer working with a mix of child and adult clients. You want to share your OT magic in a way that aligns with your professional values in celebrating and supporting neurodivergent folks and providing practical mental health support.

  • You have at least 2 years post graduation experience in a similar role (mental health care and/or working with neurodivergent clients)
  • You’re dedicated to providing excellent client care
  • You value personal and professional growth
  • You enjoy working within a team and contributing to its success
  • You take ownership of your work and your time
  • You’re down to earth, enjoy a good laugh, and only bring out the technical jargon when absolutely necessary!

If you’d like to find a new professional “home” to at some point in 2023 but you’re not ready to make a move just yet, that’s ok. Feel free to get in touch anyway – we’d love to hear from you and chat about what you’re looking for!

What You’ll Enjoy:

  • Regular individual supervision with an external consultant OT supervisor.
  • Regular in-house group and 1:1 supervision with one of our Clinical Supervisors
  • A generous annual professional development allowance and paid professional development leave.
  • An in-house professional development program featuring guest facilitators and our Amherst colleagues sharing their wisdom.
  • Whole team meetings and specific interest groups (eg: EMDR).

  • A MacBook Air laptop and other tech to make your job easier (including Novopsych, MS Teams, Powerdiary).
  • Beautifully appointed rooms including a large, light filled, dedicated team/lunch room with a BIG selection of tea, coffee and snacks 🙂
  • Opportunities to share your knowledge with our team and the broader community.
  • A supportive and welcoming team environment in which colleagues freely share their diverse knowledge and cross-refer clients.
  • An wonderful administration team who work hard doing the things you don’t enjoy and provide clients with a great experience.
