What you’ll be doing

To provide an effective and efficient Social Work service that addresses the psychosocial aspects of care for patient, as identified.

To provide intervention including support, education and resources to people in the context of their bio-psycho-social situation, to assist in dealing with health events.

Mental Health Rotation – 12 months with the opportunity to preference 6 month rotations in Adult Inpatient Unit, Rehabilitation Services, Community Adult Mental Health and Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Delivery of Social Work services within context of an acute environment to individuals and their families, providing psychosocial assessment and interventions both individual and group, that are evidenced based and will assist consumers in their recovery.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Rotation- 12 months with the opportunity to preference 6 months rotations in above Mental Health Rotation. Alcohol and Other Drugs rotation will work within the AOD counselling team providing psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions.

MNCLHD New Graduate Social Work positions are suitable for recent graduates with up to 2 years’ experience looking to develop skills in working as a part of multi-disciplinary teams in Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs Services. Allied Health professionals will have the opportunity to develop discipline specific skills across a variety of settings including Adult Inpatients, Adult Rehabilitation Adult Community, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Alcohol and other drugs with the option of 6-month rotations over 2 years.

Successful applicants will participate in the transition to practice program and have discipline specific supervision.

 

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FROM THIS RECRUITMENT ACTIVITY MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE VACANCIES

  1. Degree in Social Work or other equivalent qualification providing eligibility for membership of the AASW.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Social Work role in the context of Health.
  3. Demonstrated ability to complete psychosocial assessments and plan intervention as required.
  4. Demonstrated commitment and ability to work within a team approach, alongside other disciplines.
  5. Demonstrated ability to organise and facilitate family meetings and coordinate complex case management plans.
  6. Demonstrated competence in verbal, written and computer skills, and ability to manage significant workload.
  7. Understanding of harm reduction and strengths-based approaches in working with people with mental health and/or substance use disorder.
  8. Current driver’s licence valid to drive in NSW
