The Role
There is currently a great opportunity to work as an Occupational Therapist in the Hunter region, specifically Charlestown, to help begin or further your career with Ability Options. This position is permanent full-time, 38 hours per week and is open to new graduates or experienced Occupational Therapists.
Ability Options supports a variety of individuals with a disability, across the lifespan. As a valued member of our team, you will work within the scope of your practice to help individuals achieve their goals. You will be well supported by a great multidisciplinary team, have access to regular supervision and be able to further your knowledge and skills through a generous Professional Development budget.
Your role will be diverse and involve conducting clinical assessments and developing individually tailored therapy plans, executing appropriate Occupational Therapy treatment, for both adults and paediatrics. This role also has an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver training packages within our organisation and to outside agencies.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant tertiary education in Occupational Therapy and current full registration with AHPRA.
- Previous experience completing Occupational Therapy specific assessments and therapy supports to a range of individuals.
- Proven experience working with those with complex support needs.
- Commitment to people and providing quality services.
- Professional experience or demonstrated commitment to working with children and young people.
- Minimum P2 drivers licence and access to a registered vehicle that is comprehensively insured to perform the role.
- Ability to undergo satisfactory background checks including NDIS Workers Check and/or Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus (minimum 2 doses) or accepted medical exemption certificate.
Desirable experience:
- Working with billable targets.
- A solid understanding of the NDIS framework.
- Knowledge of the Disability Service Standards.
- Working with individuals with sensory processing needs.
- Paediatric experience.
- Highly organised, and able to work with technology in a changing environment.
- Understanding of inclusion, cultural sensitivities and the needs of diverse communities
