SMS Healthcare is looking for an Optometrist to join our clinical team at LaserSight Sunshine Coast located in the heart of Maroochydore and servicing the ever-increasing population of the Sunshine Coast and surrounds.

This position will work alongside our ophthalmologists, optometrist in our Maroochydore practice in a refractive surgery setting.

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position.

LaserSight is part of the wider SMS Healthcare Group, a unique and innovative business with a diverse portfolio of assets including: day and short stay hospitals, specialist practices and allied health clinics.

Clinical duties would include:

· Patient work-ups during ophthalmology clinics

· Work up and streamline urgent cases

· Post-operative reviews of surgical patients, within your scope of practice

· Seeing patients independently during clinical optometrist clinics

· Answer questions from referrers via phone and email in a timely manner

· Intraocular lens calculations and preparations for operating lists

· Understand relevant Medicare item numbers for optometrists and appropriate patient billing practises

· Participate in marketing activities such as meetings with external optometrists and general practitioners

About you:

The suitable candidate must have an enthusiastic approach and the ability to work within a team. All necessary training will be provided and support is available at all times from our doctors and experienced clinical staff.

Tertiary qualification in Optometry and registration with the Optometry Board of Australia required as well as therapeutic prescribing qualifications.

New graduates and experienced optometrists are welcome to apply for a potential start date in January 2023.
