Inala Community House operates two Child Protection programs including Out of Home Care and Family Intervention. This is a full time position with a fixed term contract 12 month contract in the ICH Out of Home Care program.
About the Role
In this rewarding and diverse role, you will have the opportunity to improve the lives of children in foster and kinship care.
You will achieve this by support, advocacy and monitoring to achieve highly successful placements and maximise the wellbeing of children in care while ensuring the Standards of Care are met. You will be responsible for a caseload of up to 18 households.
You will be part of a dynamic, supportive and passionate small team and part of an organisation where you will be able to have input and your voice heard. In a small organisation like ICH you can evoke change and not be lost in the crowd!
In this role, whilst your days will be varied, they will include:
- Providing ongoing support to carers through home visits as well as by telephone.
- Assist carers to implement positive behaviour management strategies.
- Attendance at mandatory meetings including family group meetings, placement meetings and stakeholder meetings.
- Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Ensure all necessary documentation, file notes and other records are kept up to date.
- You will also complete foster and kinship carer renewals and initial assessments, and assist in the intake of children and new carers. In addition to this, you will participate in carer training and events.
- Demonstrate alignment to ICH Vision, Mission and Values.
While this position is office-based, travel for regular home visits and to other locations is required. As part of this role you will be required to take shifts on the on-call roster. Please note this is a phone support service only and an additional allowance will be paid for this work in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
In return you will receive approximately $85 000 – $91 500 (based on an hourly rate) + super, flexible working hours by negotiation, access to generous salary packaging and emergent training. About you
You are passionate about the care and protection of children and recognise the invaluable contribution our carers make.
You will have a minimum of one years’ experience in the child protection sector and an understanding of the Child Protection Act 1999, frameworks and practice manual.
You will have a current blue card (in accordance with No card, No start laws), be willing to undergo an LCS2 check, have a current QLD drivers licence and a relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution (applicants with experience who are still completing their degrees will be considered).
