Parent Peer Support Worker MIFWA (Mental Illness Fellowship of WA)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a genuine person, who is passionate about supporting parents experiencing mental health challenges.

It is a casual position with 15 hours of work available per week, on a level 2.1 SCHADS. The position is based out of our Kingsley Office. 

THE OPPORTUNITY

This role will see you promote, encourage, facilitate and support effective information provision, recovery activities and access to local community services which support and/or assist parents who are experiencing mental health challenges to thrive in life and increase their resilience. You will support parents in there homes and out in the community across the North Metro of Perth .

  • You have lived experience of mental health and recovery as a parent 
  • You have solid understanding of the mental health services and types of community support available.
  • You have outstanding organisational skills.
  • You are able to build rapport with a variety of people
  • You are flexible and adaptable and have good time management.
  • You welcome challenges and see them as an opportunity to be creative.
  • You hold high yet achievable expectations of people and have experience supporting others to learn, grow and overcome any barriers.

Prerequisites of the role is a current police clearance and working with children check. You must also have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
