About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Parenting Support Practitioner! You will support efforts to build a community where fathers relate to their children. Additionally, you will facilitate evidence-based group parenting education programs and work with fathers who require parenting support through the delivery of strength based one-on-one parenting support sessions focused on the development of healthy, positive parent-child interactions.

Responsibilities include

  • Drive ownership and adherence to CaPSS vision, mission and values of TSA
  • Work under general direction of the Lead Practitioners and Team Leader
  • Deliver highly effective parenting support services to families
  • Develop positive relationships with fathers, children and broader community which encourage participation
  • Effectively manage delivery of community engagement and development strategies
  • Educate clients with their rights and responsibilities, including participation
  • Develop communication strategies with families

​This is a fixed term full-time/part-time position, (30.4 hours per week if part-time), for 12 months, based in Sunshine, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5 Award.

You will have

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Early Childhood, Counselling, Community Development, Welfare or related. Degree Qualification preferred
  • Relevant experience in a Social Service environment is required. Training and/or experience in family violence ideal
  • Knowledge of lifestyle pressures, underlying drivers and social inequalities faced by people. in the community who are vulnerable
  • Knowledge of basic community development principles and approaches
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention approaches
  • Use appropriate risk models to assess levels of risk, harm and well-being, including immediate risk
  • VIC Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
