The nib Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional Rugby League Football Club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. The Knights compete in Australasia’s rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. We are owned by The Wests Group Australia, Newcastle’s owned and operated (not-for-profit) membership-based organisation.

About the Position
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Pathways Wellbeing and Education Coordinator to join us at the state-of-the-art Knights Centre of Excellence. The primary purpose of this role will be to offer comprehensive support to our contracted pathways players, nurturing their growth both as individuals and as athletes. Working closely with players, coaches, and management, you will spearhead the creation and execution of transformative programs, that empower players to excel on and off the field. Your efforts will be closely aligned with the wellbeing pillars of the Club and our core organisational values, ensuring a holistic and impactful approach to player development.
About You
Reporting to our Wellbeing Manager, our ideal candidate is a compassionate and driven individual who possesses a deep understanding of athlete development, mental health, and education. You will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, allowing you to establish meaningful connections with players, coaches, and stakeholders. Your empathetic nature, combined with a proactive approach, will enable you to create a safe and supportive environment where athletes can thrive personally and academically, in addition to:
- Experience within an elite sporting organisation, NRL preferred.
- A degree in psychology, counselling, education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with athletes within an elite sporting organisation.
- Deep understanding of mental health and wellbeing principles, and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Demonstrated organisational and multitasking skills to manage various programs and responsibilities.
- Intimate knowledge of the NRL landscape will be highly regarded.
