About you

  •        Someone who has a personal lived experience of mental health issues and a desire to share your story with others to support them in their own recovery journey.
  •        Interested in working in a team that; embraces all things recovery and holds hope for people with severe and persistent mental illness.
  •        Wanting to work with staff that were nominated and or were award winners for the SWSLHD MH awards in 2023?

 

If you answered yes to the above, then the Pathways to Community Living Initiative (PCLI) team is looking for you. PCLI is seeking an enthusiastic peer worker to work as part of our highly skilled and specialised team that works across SWSLHD MH service.

About the Opportunity
The successful candidate will be able to shared their own lived experience and strategies to support consumers maintain hope and optimis for their own recovery. They will be expected to provide support and consistent high quality service delivery. They will participate in care planning, multidisciplinary meetings and the offer individual or group support to consumers identified through the PCLI program.

You will have access to supervision, professional development and educational opportunities whilst working as part of an experienced and highly skilled staff!


What You’ll be Doing
To provide recovery orientated peer support to mental health consumers identified through the PCLI Program across SWSLHD Mental Health Services. This position works alongside clinical staff/services to support recovery orientated and consumer driven goals remain central to the care provided. The Peer Worker is responsible for completing administrative tasks necessary to support service delivery.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Recognised degree or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer work or willingness to work towards completing
  2. Personal lived experienced of a mental health problem/disorder and a willingness and ability to share your story as part of your work
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of consumer led recovery and recovery principles
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of people
  5. Evidence of knowledge and commitment to the application of quality improvement frameworks and evidence based practice
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs
  7. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education
  8. Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating group and individual interventions
  9. Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
