As a Peer Support Worker at Rise, you will assist people with serious and persistent mental illness on their journey of recovery through the delivery of community based individual advocacy service. This position is full-time, permanent working in the community (across Perth Metro) with a hybrid base at our Helen’s Place Office in Middle Swan. Hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (some flexibility can be discussed).

A typical day may look like…

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing client support and action plans
  • Planning and implementing individual and group activities
  • Providing advocacy, information, and resources to assist clients to meet their physical and health needs
  • Responding to and managing crisis in collaboration with relevant health professionals
  • Program administration including maintenance of client documentation, inputting service data, monitoring program compliance/deliverables and recording outcome progress for clients.
  • Mentoring trainees/volunteers and contributing to recruitment of new staff

👉🏼 The need-to-have…

Here at Rise, we nurture potential. But we do need you to have a few tricks up your sleeve including the following:

  • Lived experience of mental health
  • Past experience in a Peer Support Worker role or similar
  • Resilience to deal with a range of sensitive subjects relating to mental health and ability to display coping skills.
  • Qualification or working towards a minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services or related discipline and/or experience.
  • An understanding of the Mental Health National Standards and Quality Management Frameworks and experience in working in the Mental Health Recovery Model Framework

Appointments to this position will be subject to a national police clearance and working with children check. You are also required to hold a C class driver’s licence. Costs for new checks will be covered and/or reimbursed by Rise.
