- Part-time max-term contract until 30th June 2025 (potential to be extended)

What you’ll be doing
As Peer Worker you will provide recovery-orientated, evidence-based peer support interventions utilising your own lived experience of recovery in a substance use and addiction, mental distress or illness context, to instil confidence and hope in others about their personal recovery journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, carers, and other community partner organisations in order to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to clients.
- Facilitate peer support groups (AOD recovery) groups twice weekly.
- Conduct welcome sessions with new clients.
- Engage with clients to develop trusting and professional relationships I order to identify their needs and support them to reach their recovery goals.
- Promote self-determination and self-advocacy and encourage safe healthy boundaries and self-care practices.
- Encouraging and supporting clients to access and remain engaged with their support services.
Qualifications
An ability and willingness to share own experiences of recovery with others for the benefit of advancing their recovery, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, stakeholders will be essential to the success of this role.
You will also have:
- Lived experience of substance use, mental distress/illness and/or trauma, with demonstrated experience of recovery.
- Previous employment as a Peer Worker Grade 1 along with group facilitation skills.
- Relevant mental health/AOD and or IPS training qualifications/certifications highly desirable.
- Experience of the public or private mental health system at a direct care level.
- Understanding of harm minimisation approaches to the treatment and management of persons with a Dual Diagnosis (substance misuse and mental health issues).
