Play Therapist – Emerald Centre for Play Therapy

JOB DESCRIPTION

Emerald Office

Centre for Play Therapy is a growing organisation with office locations throughout Queensland. We are currently seeking play therapists or counsellor, social workers or registered psychologists, interested in training in play therapy, to join our team in Emerald (1-2 days per week).

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct individual play therapy sessions with children on a regular basis as agreed with the parent or carer;
  • Conduct an initial parent/ carer consultation and ongoing parent/ carer consultations by phone or in person as required;
  • Complete written reports on work conducted as required;
  • Assist in conducting observations and reports related to family contact as requested;
  • Provide evidence in court proceedings as required;
  • Assist in facilitating groups for young people and parents/ carers as requested;
  • Assist in the facilitation of training programs where requested;
  • Engage in team meetings and supervision on a regular basis as agreed;
  • Maintain record- keeping practices in accordance with C4PT policies and procedures;
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Provide outreach support including travel where required
  • Assist in providing networking support where required

To be successful you will have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field including counselling, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, art therapy or Early Childhood Education. 
  • Registration with the relevant professional association or body or ability to register
  • Must be willing to undertake post graduate certificate training in child-centred play therapy unless already trained in this specific therapy
  • Experience working with complex cases in the disability, trauma or child safety sectors is highly desirable
