Play Therapist Leanna J Consulting

JOB DESCRIPTION

Play Therapy with Jodie is a rapidly growing Play Therapy business, expanding to service children and families in the Mid-North region. Built on more than 20 years’ experience in education, our evidence-based philosophies provide our clients with playful and interactive learning and communication support to help them reach for their own stars.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an enthusiastic qualified or aspiring Play Therapist, to deliver effective child-lead programs, using an understanding of best practice guidelines and evidence-based frameworks.  You’ll be required to conduct your therapy sessions with children in multi-faceted school-based environments, complying with both our business, and external stakeholder requirements. Our playrooms are set up to offer unique indoor and outdoor nature-based spaces, encouraging curiosity and inclusion for children with a variety of needs.

Our successful candidate will be required to deliver holistic play therapy and counselling services to both children and their families to ensure we create lasting benefits beyond the children we work with, for the benefit of their entire family. You’ll develop important relationships with clients and their families through a nurtured and empathetic approach to your work and your communication.

The role is a permanent part-time position of 3 days per week with the capacity to grow towards a full-time role in the future.

About You

To be successful in this role, our Play Therapist will:

  • Demonstrate an ability to relate and play in an appropriate manner with children aged between 2 and 13, while simultaneously developing positive and trusting relationships with them and their families.
  • Be highly proficient and effective in managing children with a variety of behavioural and developmental challenges, including ASD, trauma, physical and intellectual disabilities, ensuring best possible outcomes for families.
  • Have the capacity to use effective child-centred Play Therapy methods which encourage specific child needs.
  • Hold a Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Education or Psychology.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Be willing to undertake a certified Play Therapy qualification with our support.
  • Have a current Working with Children Check and have completed Responding to Abuse and Neglect training.
