Position Overview: Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our dynamic team in Adelaide. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and enhance their overall well-being. The successful candidate will work closely with our clients, their families, and our multidisciplinary team to implement positive behavior support strategies aligned with NDIS principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments to identify the underlying factors influencing challenging behaviors.
  2. Develop and implement individualized Positive Behaviour Support Plans in collaboration with clients, their support networks, and relevant stakeholders.
  3. Provide training and support to clients, families, and support workers to ensure effective implementation of behavior support strategies.
  4. Monitor and review behavior support plans regularly, making necessary adjustments based on ongoing assessments and feedback.
  5. Collaborate with allied health professionals, including psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to integrate a holistic approach to support.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client progress, behavior incidents, and interventions.
  7. Stay informed about current best practices, research, and developments in the field of positive behavior support.
  8. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the disability sector, preferably within an NDIS environment.
  3. Certification as a Positive Behavior Support Practitioner is highly desirable.
  4. Strong knowledge of the NDIS framework and principles.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
  7. A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive community for individuals with disabilities.
