Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based approaches to reduce behaviours of concern for people with disabilities from early childhood to older adults
  • Develop a thorough understanding of client’s disabilities through medical reports, research and observations and review appropriate interventions
  • Provide coaching, support, modelling and training to key stakeholders and carers in the implementation of support strategies and interventions
  • Ensure that all relevant parties are competent in the implementation of support strategies and responsibilities for our clients.
  • Develop positive behaviour support plans that address behaviours by gathering relevant information through stakeholders assessments and interviews
  • Identification of restrictive practices and completion of relevant reporting requirements 
  • Develop and implement strategies and interventions for clients, as well as working alongside families, carers, support workers and other key stakeholders such as other allied health professionals and general practitioners
  • Evaluate and review effectiveness of the intervention, using data analysis and recommend changes if required
  • Meet key performance standards within identified timeframes to ensure requirements are met
  • Rapport building with key stakeholders

  • The role will require you to be working mostly from home so you would generally need to be appreciative of working in your own space
  • Ability to work effectively and independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills (including report writing, client-centered planning)
  • You have a passion for collaboration with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan and organise work and perform well with limited direction and supervision, but you will have access to support. 
  • Exceptional planning and organising skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Desire to provide client-centered support to people (children, adults) with disabilities who have a range of goals, functional abilities and complex needs
  • Able to work to with guidelines and deadlines in a timely manner, and can prioritise accordingly. 
  • You understand trust and rapport are the cornerstone of building lasting relationships

Must have

  • A National Police Clearance, Working With Children/Working with Vulnerable People Check & NDIS Worker Screening Clearance 
  • Sound computer literacy (Microsoft Office) and reliable internet connection and home office.
  • Registration as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is a requirement of the role. Support can be provided to achieve registration however; this is a requirement to obtain before commencement within this role. 

Nice to have

  • Allied Health degree or similar is highly regarded in applicants including Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Social Sciences, Education (with Behaviour Support component).
  • Advanced or Specialist Level Positive Behaviour Support
  • Experience in Child Safety, Trauma Informed Care or transferable skills
  • Experience in developing and delivering training to individuals and support teams
  • Understanding of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and legislative requirements relating to restrictive interventions
  • Multi-lingual
