Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner
The Health Hub leads the transdisciplinary allied health practice space in Brisbane. The team of highly trained Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech Pathologists work with both mainstream clients and NDIS participants to achieve their therapeutic and functional goals.
We are a key player in the Positive Behaviour Support space in Brisbane and are looking to increase our internal support team. We are looking for a second leader to support the current PBSP team. This is a new role within the organization and will work directly with the Director of The Health Hub. The successful candidate will act as a department leader and co-create an innovative PBSP team. The role has emerged based on a significant increase in demand.
About this new role
You will work with participants of all ages and their support team to develop intervention plans and recommendations that will help to reduce challenging behaviours. You will plan, monitor, and review participant outcomes in line with NDIS funding.
You will:
- Complete functional behaviour assessments.
- Develop Positive Behaviour Support plans and train staff and carers to implement the plan, along with the participant.
- Assist participants in addressing underlying causes of behaviours of concern or challenging behaviours in a way that reduces the occurrence and impact of these on their life.
- Work to reduce or eliminate the use of restrictive practices.
- Safeguard the dignity and quality of life of people with disabilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Allied Health field.
- Current registration with AHPRA or relevant professional body.
- Working with Children Check and Police Check clearance.
- Current driver’s license.
Desirable/ Training may be provided:
- Previous experience in completing behavioural assessments and developing support plans for NDIS participants.
- A thorough knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
- Functional Behaviour Analytical skills
- Meet the requirements to work as a Behaviour Support Practitioner under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Commission’s Positive Behaviour Support Capability framework.
