St John of God Accord is a division of St John of God Health Care dedicated to providing support to people with intellectual disabilities. The overall aim is to enhance the quality of life for clients through the development and provision of support options aligned to the personal ambition and need of each client.

 

The Position

St John of God Accord?s work in the disability sector is important and life changing for our clients and our staff. Our unique approach puts the client at the centre of collaborative and supportive multi-disciplinary team-servicing clients across the lifespan in a variety of real life settings.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary allied heath team at Accord. In this role, you will be responsible for providing assessment, support and guidance to our clients with a focus on Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

Applicants will have a tertiary qualification in Allied Health, Mental Health, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Education or Psychology and/or a relevant qualification in Positive Behaviour Support.

Provisional Psychologists are encouraged to apply and applicants with minimal experience in behaviour support will be fully supported to meet criteria in the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework.

This position is based in our Greensborough Head Office and offered on a permanent full time or part time basis with flexible work options available.  

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • A qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Applied Behaviour Analysis/Behavioural Science, Disability, Mental Health or Education and/or a relevant qualification in Positive Behaviour Support. 
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand the principles of Positive Behaviour Support with a client centered approach.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as an independent practitioner and as a member of a team.
  • Strong commitment to the clinical supervision process
  • Strong verbal and written communication capability with the capacity to present information to individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people effectively, both as individuals and in groups, to obtain commitment and achieve results.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of staff and external customers, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong commitment to principles of enhancing independence and client empowerment.
  • Sound planning, organisational and analytical skills and ability to develop and work to time lines.
  • Sound computer aptitude and experience with MS office suite, internet applications and email.
  • Evidence of First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current Victorian drivers licence and well maintained vehicle.
