The Court determines more than 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
Reporting directly to the Principal Practice Lead, the Practice Lead works within Specialist Courts and Court Support Services (CSS), which includes a range of initiatives to assist accused persons and others involved in the court system. Participants may be experiencing issues of social or cultural disadvantage, including substance abuse, disability, mental illness, family violence or cognitive impairment. These initiatives include the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP), the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC), CISP Remand and Outreach Project (CROP), the Criminal Justice Diversion Program, the Drug Court of Victoria, Family Violence Programs and Initiatives Unit and the Koori Court.
Description
- Emphasise continuous improvement by identifying key issues and recommending strategies to ensure that policy and practice development is delivered in accordance with clinical best practice, therapeutic jurisprudence principles, and agreed service outcomes.
- Write and develop client focussed policies, work instructions and practice guidelines to steer and support case managers’ work.
- Ensure that policy and CSS Programs are delivered in a way that is person-centred and responsive to and inclusive of the diverse needs and backgrounds of all clients. Skilfully work with diversity in a way that displays respect and cultural inclusivity.
- Be responsible for working with the CSS Leadership team to contribute to the development and delivery of key priorities within the workplan relevant to practice leadership.
- Establish effective working relationships with the judiciary, legal professionals, and court staff in relation to clients within the court process, providing support and specialist clinical advice in relation to complex client presentations.
- Provide proactive leadership, mentoring, coaching, and support to the Court Support Services program team, ensuring high quality and consistency in service delivery.
Profile
- A relevant tertiary level qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, or Occupational Therapy and relevant professional registration/membership.
- Extensive experience in clinical practice leadership and governance within the mental health, family violence, AOD, disability services, or other relevant community sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively in or leading a team and ability to be a positive role model who is professional, supportive, and inclusive.
- Committed to providing high-quality services to all people from diverse language and cultural backgrounds and flexible in your approach.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
