Activated Concepts is a community-based specialist clinical provider in the mental health and NDIS space. We also offer a variety of other services, including but not limited to, family support services and clinical training.

We are highly regarded for our leadership in trauma-informed practice and have partnerships with NSW Health, the NSW Department of Justice, the University of Newcastle, and large employee assistance providers.

Due to increasing demand, we are actively seeking a Clinical Psychologist, or a highly experienced Registered Psychologist, to lead psychological assessments and treatment

in our Mental Health Services. The successful applicant will be the Practice Lead, Psychological Services. This role is negotiable for the right applicant to be either part-time or full-time

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Activated Concepts’ Practice Lead – Psychological Services (Practice Lead) is a highly experienced clinical leader in trauma-informed interventions and focused psychological strategies for people experiencing psychological distress. They specialise in psychological practice theories, clinical assessments, and frameworks via diagnostics and therapeutic interventions for Victims of Crime, NDIS, Employee Assistance Program, and private participants. They practice with a trauma-informed lens, in a person-centred manner with the participants, their family, and other relevant stakeholders.

Activated Concepts’ Practice Leads provide specialist clinical assessments, psychological interventions, develop mental health recovery plans and reports for their participants to support them live a fulfilling and meaningful life in their own community.

Activated Concepts’ Practice Leads have a sound understanding of mental health and see people in their context. They work with all ages to achieve the individual clinical goals of the participant as well as enhancing the participant’s self-care strategies.

Activated Concepts’ Practice Leads provide three focus areas to their team:

i. Focused Psychological Strategies: managing complex participants with high needs and/or who are in crisis via highly developed psychosocial assessments, tailored, therapeutic interventions, reports, and recovery plans.

ii. Diagnostic Assessments: providing, and leading, psychological diagnostic testing procedures and reports to help diagnose mental illness and providing supporting evidence for participants.

iii. Leading and Mentoring staff: providing day-to-day supervision, mentoring, and training at the direction and approval of Manager – Mental Health Services

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Leading and undertaking psychological diagnostic tests to measure the participant’s intelligence, cognition, mental abilities, and behavior. i.e. MMPI-2, ADOS-2, Becks Inventories, Conners, ABAS-3,

• Leading a trauma-informed and person-centred evidence-based recovery-approach with a moderate to complex caseload averaging 30 billable hours per week (FTE), or as agreed with the Manager – Mental Health Services.

• Supervision and mentoring of Mental Health Clinicians, at the direction and approval of the Manager – Mental Health Services.

• Networking and Intake Management, at the direction and approval of the Manager – Mental Health Services.

• Provision of primary consultation, which includes the initial intake and assessment interview to develop a treatment plan

• Completing and documenting comprehensive assessments and reports of support needs, areas for development, strengths, and current capabilities (as funding allows)

• Development, completion, and implementation of recovery plans to assist the participant in meeting their psychosocial and functional goals (as funding allows)

• Provide training and support to assist other support providers

• Ensure all administrative tasks (including case notes) are completed accurately and on time

• Maintain the participant’s privacy and confidentiality

• Maintain documentation in accordance with relevant legislation requirements (i.e. confidentiality) and Activated Concepts’ policies and procedures

• All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their acts and omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given to them and with any policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace that are known to them, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers.

• Maintain Professional Registrations, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Check and a clear Criminal Record.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Professional registration with APRHA as a General or Clinical Psychologist

2. Minimum of four years experience working in trauma-informed care and with psychosocial disabilities in the health, education, justice, disability, out-of-home-care and/or specialist homelessness sector etc

3. Sound knowledge of mental health assessment, risk assessment and safety planning, counselling theory and practice, and a minimum of 3 years experience in counselling (focused psychological strategies).

4. Sound experience in completing psychological and functional and/or behavior assessments, which focus on diagnosis and seeing the person in their context

5. Sound experience in report writing to support participants with clinical evidence

6. A proven self-starter, with an ability to maintain professional independence and the ability to work in a self-directed manner whether in the office or at home.

7. Understanding and commitment to confidentiality legislation and discretion for participants
