JOB DESCRIPTION

The Practice Specialist provides therapeutic oversight of, and services to, infants, children and young people who are in statutory care; targeted interventions include assessments, developing therapeutic response and sexual safety plans, therapeutic parenting interventions, and systemic interventions including reflective practice, care team meetings and staff education. 
 
As a Practice Specialist, you will be responsible for:
 

  • Play a leading role in the continuous uplift of thrapeutic practice
  • Develop Therapeutic Response Plans with children, young people and their parents and/or carers.
  • Provide therapeutic oversight of services to those who require targeted interventions such as development of therapeutic response and sexual safety plans, therapeutic parenting interventions for carers, and systemic interventions such as education and staff debriefing.
  • Facilitate Therapeutic Care Team and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings and conduct Reflective Practice sessions to support case managers, youth workers and managers
  • Complete file reviews and reporting requirements including Therapeutic Response Plans, Sexual Safety Plans, Risk Management Plans, and Outcome Measures.

 
 
This role can be on a full-time or part-time basis.

About You:
 
For this role, we’re seeking an established candidate with previous experience working within Child, Youth & Family sector within a therapeutic environment. You’ll have a track record of providing services to young people and their families. In addition, you will have:
 

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or related discipline.
  • Current registration with professional body relevant to qualification.
  • Experience in a trauma-informed or therapeutic care setting or working therapeutically with Children and Young People in OOHC.
  • Expertise in developing therapeutic alliances and working within multi-disciplinary teams to support therapeutic responses.
  • Skilled in child safe and inclusive practice and delivering therapeutic services to children, young people and their families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NSW Child Protection legislation and the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care.
