On the Line Australia is a 24/7 national charitable provider of suicide prevention, mental health and counselling services. We provide free professional support and help for people to navigate Australia’s complex service systems.
We specialise in remote service provision, having pioneered the use of technology to reach people in need since 1960. On the Line Australia delivers some of Australia’s most vital free helpline services, including Mens Line Australia, Suicide Call Back Service, and Suicide Line Victoria.
Position Purpose
The Practice Specialist will have a solid understanding of all services at On the Line. They will build and maintain strong working relationships with Clinical Managers and the Counselling Centre to ensure high-quality counselling is delivered.
Key activities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining cross-functional relationships across OTLA to have a strong understanding of the organisation
- Having a coaching-based mindset in working counsellors in performance improvement
- Developing and delivery education sessions including Induction
- Being a proactive team player to be focused on continued support and improvement
- Championing practice excellence through quality monitoring
- Having continued awareness of the interaction between client and counsellor
- Building and maintaining practice knowledge in a library
- Supporting counsellors.
What you bring to the role
- Tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor) in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing or Counselling or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of and experience in men’s social health, crisis counselling, suicide prevention, relationship counselling, child abuse and family violence issues
- Extensive clinical supervision experience, both individual and group
- Demonstrated experience on education and training
- Demonstrated experience in clinical risk governance
- Leadership and program management experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply counselling approaches to social health issues and needs
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, design, implement and review effective systems for clinical quality assurance
- Demonstrated experience in providing clinical guidance to staff using clinical guidelines and current evidence to inform clinical decision-making
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills and the capacity to work effectively with a diverse range of people
- Well-developed project management skills and attention to detail
- The right to work unrestricted in Australia (evidence will be required)
- A current National Police Records check (or willing to apply for one)
- Working with Children Check (or willing to apply for one)

As this a Hybrid role, there are minimum set up requirements for you to adequately perform this role when working from home including:

- You have strong IT skills and proficiency in telephony-based systems where you are comfortable navigating multiple software
