Permanent, part-time position (45.6 hours fortnightly) in Burnie

About the role:

This position in our Families, Children and Young People Domain provides professional and exceptional community outreach support in our Child and Youth Mental Health services provided by Anglicare in line with Anglicare’s Practice Principles and Framework of Practice.  The scope of the role is  to provide early intervention and non-clinical community mental health support for Children and Young people who are showing signs of, or at risk of developing mental illness in a who le of family context.

The successful applicant will:

  • facilitate assessments and planning processes with people accessing our services by identifying their personal barriers and support needs to develop meaningful ways to overcome those barriers;
  • in collaboration with people accessing our services, develop a service plan to guide the intentional support to be provided, providing regular intentional support based on service plan and identified support needs, review service plans and support needs regularly and revise plan accordingly;
  • provide support and information for children and young people in a whole of family context in relation to risk of developing mental illness.
  • have excellent client management skills including the ability to work with clients in a trauma informed approach;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Education, Psychology, Social work, Nursing and Allied Health) or extensive experience and qualifications (Diploma of Community Services) deemed equivalent and/or clearly demonstrated experience in Community Services.

  • An understanding of the processes people utilise to overcome adversity/distress arising from life challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in individual support
  • Demonstrated case management skills and ability to work effectively with clients, family members and service providers to identify solutions.
  • An ability to recognise and understand people’s intrinsic resourcefulness.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals and their families/carers who may be experiencing or at risk of developing mental illness
  • People who reflect our values of Respect, Compassion, Hope and Justice.

Successful applicants must be willing to:

  • provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check if you are applying for the 1st time or have renewed your registration since 1st February 2021;
  • present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
  • provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
  • undertake a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
  • provide evidence of your COVID-19 Digital Certificates (including booster) or a vaccination exemption;
  • provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
