HILLS is seeking applications for a Primary School Counsellor for a 1 year Replacement Position commencing Jan 2023 – approx 30 hours per week during term time only (plus one week at the start of the year).
Role Purpose
The role supports student wellbeing by providing counselling services and referrals; offering emotional-social support to our community, as well as facilitating small social skills groups for students. This position is part of a wellbeing team where there are opportunities for and ongoing professional development.
Key Selection Criteria
Counsellors at The Hills Christian Community School must demonstrate the ability to:
- Offer confidential counselling of students, parents/guardians and families experiencing personal, relational, social, or professional difficulties.
- Offer support and advocacy to students, staff, and parents/guardians when needed, both during and out of school hours.
- Be involved with critical incident response and critical incident debriefing and counselling at both personal and community level.
- Refer students and families to external agencies where needed.
- Work closely with parents/guardians and others involved with students experiencing difficulties.
- Nurture positive relationships with students, staff and families.
Pre-Requisites/Qualifications
These qualifications/certificates are required prior to commencing employment at HILLS and must be updated for the duration of employments at HILLS (please provide copy with application):
- Relevant Qualification in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology
- Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
- Current Responding to Risks of Abuse & Neglect Certificate (RRHAN-EC)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Driver’s Licence
