Where you come in:
In this part-time permanent role (2 days – 15.2 hours per week), you’ll facilitate child-focused activities that support the emotional and social development of primary school aged children. Specifically, you will work to empower children to understand and harness their emotions within the school setting, strengthening their connection to education. Working at Smithton Primary school, you’ll report to our Team Leader -Children and Parenting programs.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting children to engage positively in education
  • Supporting children to reach their full potential and build sustainable support networks and connection to community
  • Building and maintaining strong networks, service delivery partnerships, and referral pathways
  • Collecting and recording data and information for accountability, evaluation, and reporting

Does this sound like you?
You’re a highly flexible practitioner who is calm under pressure and loves to have a positive impact working with children and their families. You have a deep understanding of the importance of child development, including experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma. Most importantly, you have a strong sense of empathy and an infectious enthusiasm for your job.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, understanding and experience working with primary school aged children
  • Understanding of relevant Federal and State child protection legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in using trauma informed practice
  • Strong understanding of best practice in the fields of early intervention, child protection, domestic and family violence and early childhood
  • Degree/ Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience.
