Principal Youth2Industry College

JOB DESCRIPTION

Youth2Industry College (Y2IC) an Independent School seeks a dynamic Principal for 2024.  We are seeking to attract an exceptional leader who has significant experience in developing, implementing and evaluating programs for students who have found mainstream schooling challenging.

About the opportunity

The College delivers the Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) and the VCE Vocational Major (VM) to Year 11 and 12 students in a safe and supportive environment. Students are aged between 15 – 20 years and are referred to the College from mainstream schools, community service providers and/or clinical psychologists.

We apply a strength-based approach with a strong focus on each student’s individual support needs and unique learning style. We keep our student numbers purposely small to enable us to effectively form close relationships with each student supporting them to develop their skills and identify their goals. Our model enables students to pursue their learning journey and access a range of choices and opportunities to experience success.

Based in South Melbourne, 2023 is our third year as a school.  A 12-person team which includes five registered teachers, provides a tailored applied learning program to over 60 students.  Our team members bring diverse and overlapping strengths, skills and experiences to respond holistically to students’ educational needs in a safe and respectful environment.

With a negotiated start date in Term I, 2024, the Principal will have knowledge of contemporary pedagogies in diverse educational pathways and approaches to re-engage young people.  The successful candidate will be a collaborative and relational leader able to:

  • Lead, develop and promote the academic and creative reputation of the Youth2Industry College in alignment with its strategic direction.
  • Motivate, encourage and inspire the development of a strong, effective and efficient teaching team that operates ethically and with a clear focus on delivering outcomes for students and the Youth2Industry College as a whole.
  • Provide effective, dynamic leadership and promote a culture of encouragement, support and guidance to ensure that every student is able to fulfil their true potential.

Youth2Industry College promotes a culture of safety, well-being and inclusion of all children, including Aboriginal children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and those with a disability.
