About the role 

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Child Youth and Family Professional Learning specialist to join our Professional Learning Team. This team is an integral part of the CYF Centre for Practice Excellence focussed on support our staff to build their knowledge and skills and implement evidence-based practice.

As a member of the CYF Centre for Practice Excellence, the purpose of the Professional Learning Specialist – Child and Family is to design and deliver highly effective programs of professional learning across the full suite of CYF roles and range of services in the Children, Young People and Families Directorate.

The role is responsible for implementing relevant professional learning experiences to develop the capability of our workforce by ensuring they are evidence informed and have the knowledge, skills and attributes to serve our clients.

This is a permanent full-time position, location flexible anywhere in Australia, some travel will be required to deliver training.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Model best practice in all learning and development activities.
  • Create, deliver, review and evaluate a CYF professional learning curriculum and approaches to develop and embed CYF practice that enables our staff to deliver positive outcomes for our clients 
  • Ensure learning and development materials and activities:
    • align to organisational strategic intent and evidence informed models, approaches and practice elements
    • meet the needs our staff and the impact we want to have with our clients by ensuring they can be delivered by a range of learning channels, and result in effective learning transfer
  • Contribute to, deliver, and report on training which meets the needs of stakeholders and managed through the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Actively contribute to relevant professional learning projects and initiatives in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capture relevant CYF professional learning program design and delivery data in relevant data management systems.
  • Prepare training materials for delivery
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of data for reporting on performance and contributing to CARE, TCI and other evidence-based program fidelity.

Skills & Experience

  • Child and family relevant tertiary qualification for example psychology, social work, human services or other relevant field.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in child protection
  • Extensive experience in developing a range of professional learning approaches for people working in child and family services, especially in a child protection setting
  • Demonstrated experience implementing teaching, coaching and facilitation skills to ensure effective learning transfer opportunities in both face to face and online settings.
  • Extensive knowledge of children, young people and family practice, including knowledge of contemporary child protection approaches.
  • Completion of CARE and TCI training, or willingness to do so with support from LWB
  • Proven collaborative problem-solving skills, and ability to think laterally and strategically.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
