The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a Proficient Behavioural Support Practitioner to join our Allied Health Team in the provision of disability and aged care services providing professional assessment, therapy and support for people living with disability and older persons.
Working in a multidisciplinary team, the Behaviour Support Practitioner’s role is to promote and encourage skill development, independence and quality of life for our clients as part of HenderCare’s services. This position offers professional development support and is flexible based on the qualifications held.
About the Role
As a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will:
- Undertake relevant assessments to identify causal factors of challenging behaviour in order to establish effective strategies and plans that address the behaviour and enhance the quality of life for the individual.
- Provide coaching, modelling and support to stakeholders including but not limited to families, support workers, and key stakeholders to ensure relevant parties.
- Develop both Comprehensive and Interim Behaviour Support plans that meet NDIS Commission requirements for the use of Restricted Practices for clients with complex support needs
- Implement, capture and analyse data in order to monitor the plan’s effectiveness, review challenging behaviour and make any changes where required.
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
- Provide ongoing mentoring/peer support to Core practitioners
- Meet operational, clinical legal and financial performance targets.

About You
We are looking for innovative and passionate people who thrive in the fast-paced environment of Allied Health. You’ll show a strong commitment to high-quality client care using positive behaviour support practices, and be able to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate behaviour support plans.
- A tertiary qualification such as Psychology, Social Work or other relevant allied health area is desirable.
- A minimum of 18 months of experience implementing Behaviour Support strategies
- Experience working with clients with a range of complexities using a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
- Well-developed knowledge of person-centred approaches
- Experience and knowledge of challenging behaviour and intellectual disability
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and report-writing skills (written and oral)
Eligibility to work as an NDIS Commission-approved Proficient Practitioner is required for this role
