Connect and Respect is a state wide family and domestic violence intervention service delivering rehabilitation and reintegration services to male offenders through mandated men’s behaviour change groups and individual delivery in community and prison settings with the ultimate aim of enabling a safe and strong community and ceasing the cycle of family and domestic violence. About the role
The role of the Program Facilitator, Connect and Respect engages men in a court mandated targeted behaviour change process to support immediate, short term and long term behavioural and attitudinal change, and through group education initiatives and/or individual counselling in prisons or community based settings, provides culturally competent rehabilitation and reintegration services to court mandated male perpetrators of FDV. You will co-facilitate and co-deliver a contemporary, customised behaviour change group program at multiple locations throughout metropolitan Perth ( Joondalup and Midland).
We are currently creating a casual recruitment pool of suitably experienced and qualified applicants to draw from to provide leave cover and back up as required. Hours of work are typically 12:30 -8:30 Monday to Friday as groups are run in the evenings.
About you
You will be person centred, strengths based and trauma informed in your practice and ideally have prior knowledge of the justice system. You will keep the safety of the adult victims, children and community at the fore front of your work. You will embrace a culture of inclusion and have demonstrated capacity to work in cross-cultural situations, especially with Aboriginal people. You will be an excellent communicator, collaborator and facilitator building and fostering long lasting relationships with your clients, the community and multiple stakeholder
Duties & Responsibilities
Below is a brief outline of some of the duties and responsibilities of the role:
- Provide group work interventions specific to men’s behaviour change work
- Prepare and compile detailed case notes as well as various formal reports detailing clients’ journey through the program
- Ensure the service operates with a primary emphasis on the safety of adult victims, children and communities in accordance with the WA Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework and the Western Australian Perpetrator Minimum Standards for Men’s Behaviour Change Programs.
Education Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Services ( Psychology, Social Work, Criminology etc) and solid industry experience with specialist knowledge relevant to the position
- A current WA Driver’s Licence
- A current National Police Clearance
- Ability to obtain a Department of Corrective Services Clearance
Qualities you bring
- Experience and expertise in working within family and domestic violence and specifically the perpetrator space
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience of interventions including individual counselling, group work experience and case management.
- Knowledge of the impact of family violence on adult victims, children, young people and communities.
- Knowledge and experience of intervention models appropriate to working with FDV perpetrators, such as the Duluth Abuse Intervention Program, David Mandel’s Safe and Together Model, Jenkin’s invitational model and response based practice perspectives.
- High level formal report writing skills
Pay
- $56 casual hourly rate
