Program Officer – Mental Health and Wellbeing
The Role:
Recognising that settlement in a new country is a long and difficult journey with many hurdles to overcome, the role will provide targeted mental health and wellbeing related communication, connection and engagement opportunities for humanitarian migrants and refugees that may experience challenges in accessing services.
To be successful in the role you will need:
- Prior project work experience in a community development setting.
- Working knowledge of the mental health and wellbeing support services.
- Good understanding of the migration experience of people from refugee backgrounds.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work in a team environment.
- Passion to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Plan and coordinate prevention, promotion and early intervention activities and programs in the area of refugee and culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD) mental health and wellbeing.

The Project:
The role will oversee the mental health and wellbeing project, which includes:
- Developing & implementing community-based activities to promote mental health and wellbeing, as well as referral pathways for people from refugee backgrounds.
- Support MCCI’s team members with information, support and referral pathways to assist them to engage with community members who are struggling with mental health issues or accessing wellbeing pathways.
- Planning and coordinating workshops and information sessions in partnership with external stakeholders for people from refugee and CALD communities.
- Liaising with MCCI’s team to raise awareness of the initiative through existing programs.
- Maintaining records of activities undertaken, program participation, and working with the manager to monitor, report on, and evaluate the program for the funding body.
