About the Program 

The Tiwi Youth Behaviour Change Program is a pilot to develop an early intervention program for young people starting to use domestic and family violence (DFV) The program will include identifying and delivering culturally appropriate and targeted interventions to young people aged 11-17 to help them understand the impact of their violence, take responsibility for their behaviour, and change their attitudes.

CCNT is partnering with Mantupwyi Ltd to develop the pilot. The program will be informed by the Tiwirrampila Place Based Plan and based in Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT), including DNA-V.

About the role

The Project Coordinator Tiwi Behaviour Change Program is responsible for leading the co-design of an innovative and effective youth behaviour change pilot program. The role includes co-design of program content, development of program documentation, community engagement, the development of an evaluation framework and reporting tools, training and capacity building and program launch preparation.

What we are looking for 

  • Degree with substantial experience in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, or related field
  • Strong understanding of behaviour changes theories, experience in project management and leading collaborative initiatives, particularly in the field of youth development or violence prevention.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of evaluation methodologies
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of key partners, stakeholders, community groups and organisations, particularly with Aboriginal people and communities, and working in partnership with them to achieve community goals
  • A comprehensive knowledge of domestic and family violence, its impact on women and children and the diverse drivers and contributing factors.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with men who have used violence in their relationships including communicating in a non-judgemental and non-confrontational manner.
  • A trauma-informed approach to be able to navigate complex dynamics sensitively, establish clear boundaries, and avoid inadvertently enabling harmful behaviour.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and documenting observations accurately and objectively in case notes. 
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous men.
