Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct Stage 2 (SQCP-S2)
As part of reforms to the criminal justice system, the Queensland Government has committed to building a new $861 million-dollar correctional centre near Gatton in the Lockyer Valley.
Construction of the modern, purpose-built Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct – Stage 2 (SQCP-S2) is underway, 100 kilometres south-west of Brisbane.
It will be the first correctional centre of its kind in Queensland, with a state-of-the-art infrastructure design and an operating model centred on the integrated health and rehabilitation of prisoners to reduce re-offending and improve community safety.
The SQCP-S2 operations team has responsibility for delivering collaborative, multi-disciplinary, research-based and data-driven correctional services which focus on prisoner outcomes, aligned with the key principles of the Queensland Corrective Services’ Corrections 2030 strategy.
There will be an innovative, ground-up approach to commissioning the Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct Stage 2, with all elements of the new centre considered at each phase of design, from embedded technology through to service delivery.
The process of identifying and recruiting staff for SQCP-S2 is scheduled to commence in late 2022 and be completed in late 2023, with a full centre staff complement to then test and commission the centre in 2024.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
