Lifeline Australia is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24-hour Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention Services. Each year, Lifeline receives more than 1 million contacts from people in crisis. The Project Management Office at Lifeline Australia works with a broad range of stakeholders towards outcomes for improved mental health and wellbeing in communities.
About the role
The Lifeline Project Officer (Community Connection) will be a qualified professional with experience in influencing change and working in collaborative partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders. The incumbent will possess an understanding of mental health issues including suicide postvention, suicide and trauma. The position calls for a motivated individual who can engage, liaise and negotiate with a broad range of stakeholders and organisations.
- Identify key stakeholders & community groups in NSW regions to develop and implement community action plans
- Work alongside other consultants to implement protocols, assist in creating resources, and map out services in communities
- Create, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with relevant organisations and partners
- Coordinate & communicate with regional stakeholders to build capacity in the prevention, detection and response to risk vulnerabilities
- Provide evidence-based strategies for suicide prevention
- Organise and facilitate informative sessions in the community with relevant stakeholders
What you bring to the organisation
You have a passion to be part of a not-for-profit organisation that aims to provide education, awareness and practical support to communities regarding mental health and suicide.
- Experience in project work, community engagement or stakeholder engagement in the health space
- Experience in the healthcare space including mental health, public health, and/or suicide postvention services is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative partnerships & influence change in the community
- Ability to be part of a team and work to achieve goals together
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a broad range of people
- Highly developed communication skills, written and verbal
- Previous experience in project management will be highly regarded
Essentials
- Tertiary qualification in public health promotion, community development or mental health; or relevant training and experiences
- Knowledge of the common social and mental health issues faced by individuals and communities
- Drivers License
- Able to travel across NSW 1-2 times per month overnight to visit regional areas of NSW.
