The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

About the role

The primary purpose of the Property Support Worker is to ensure that the family violence residential properties are maintained at high standards to accommodate victim survivors of family violence. This role will be required to work closely with the Team Leader and the team to support various aspects of the program that include but not limited to WHS and family violence program implementation. The role will require being based at and working from multiple locations within the Mackay region as directed by the Team Leader.

You will successfully

  • Ensure properties are checked for maintenance before and after occupancy, properties are cleaned and maintained to high standards, properties are stocked with appropriate household items based on the identified needs of the participants in the program.
  • Communicate and action any property maintenance issue raised or identified
  • Support implementation of training on WHS, regular worksite inspections and fire drills across sites in discussion and coordination with the Program Manager and Team Leaders
  • Building and maintaining relationships with trades, companies and service providers integral to the effective management of safety and security of the residential properties attached to the program

You will successfully

  • Associate diploma with relevant experience; or Relevant certificate with relevant experience attained through previous appointments in property and program support to undertake the range of activities required.
  • Experience of working in the family violence sector and having an understanding of family violence is highly desirable.
  • Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required.
  • Basic computer skills including experience in data and record management is desirable.

This is a permanent, part-time(19hrs per week) position located in Mackay, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Level 4 Award.
