Provisional Psychologist – Roving School Counsellor
Thrive Psychology provides onsite support and counselling to secondary schools through qualified health practitioners throughout the Riverina Region. The service is provided by counsellors based onsite at each location and a roving Provisional Psychologist who supports each school across the region. These roles are a critical part of the well-being team at each school. We require a Provisional Psychologist to join the team to fullfill the Roving School Counsellor position. This requires travel between Albury, Wagga Wagga, Leeton and Griffith on a fortnightly basis. The role supports counselling based intervention, well-being and capability building across the regions. Additionally the roving counsellor provides back up support in each school through critical incidents and during staff absence. The position is only available to a provisional psychologist.
Applicants will have qualifications in Psychology and will be eligible for or currently participating in the provisional pathway towards full registration as a psychologist. Experience with secondary students is preferable, but not necessarily compulsory. Supervision, support and professional development is provided by Thrive Psychology.
The successful applicant will be located within region and will travel between the schools on a fortnightly basis and enjoy the support and development that comes with being a member of the Thrive Psychology Team. The position includes a company motor vehicle for travel and personal use. You will be integrated into the school well-being teams to ensure the carriage of the needs for all students to learn and prosper within the school environment. You will be involved in building the capability of the students, teachers and the school community in respect of managing mental health issues and building positive mental health strategies.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology
- AHPRA Registration (or eligibility) as a provisional psychologist
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks and balance priorities
- A capacity to integrate with the school environment
- National Police check and working with children check
