Are you an adventure-seeking provisional psychologist (5+1 or 4+2) who’s not interested in a run-of-the-mill 9-5 experience at a psychology clinic, who’s looking to kickstart their career with loads of variety in your work, a friendly and supportive team and flexible working hours?
Join the club. We’ve got hot pink caps and are off to the camel races this weekend.
What is Vital Health’s shared vision?
Vital Health is a leading multi-disciplinary Allied Health organisation on a mission to improve health access to rural, remote, and indigenous communities. Our intrepid team have made a difference for over 30 years, across an ever-growing of Queensland & New South Wales and have helped countless individuals achieve their goals along the way.
We love debunking myths with professionals from the city about what it means to work in rural practice and pride ourselves on our extensive clinical experience, multi-disciplinary innovation, and person-centred approach to therapy. We believe everyone should have access to exceptional in-person therapy services, no matter where they live!
What sets us apart?
- Enjoy a genuinely fun and supportive team – no need for exaggerated marketing schemes here… you come to a rural clinic for the adventure and a career broadening case load and stay for the down-to-earth culture and life-long friends you make along the way.
- We listen to our staff and adapt to their suggestions for change to create superior support & flexibility, 1:1 supervision & career growth opportunities.
- Attend Professional Development weekends away – where we take river cruises, visit vineyards, and benefit from the teachings of national thought leaders in Psychology.
- Collaborate with Mental Health OTs, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists and Allied Health Assistants to achieve your clients’ goals.
- Feel supported by an experienced team of Admin & NDIS support
- Develop a broad skillset more quickly than working in a city environment and develop areas of interest you haven’t dived into at Uni or on placement.
- Work in a multitude of work environments – in fully resourced paediatrics & adults clinics, in community centres, schools, shearing sheds and via telehealth.
- Receive comprehensive orientation, NDIS & admin training prior to taking on any clients.
- Competitive professional development allowance in addition to your salary to support your professional growth and maintain our high-quality clinical standards.
- Unrivalled renumeration; and bonus scheme for motivated individuals.
What Your Typical Day Might Involve
- Jump into your workday around 8 am with a supervision check-in with the Mental Health team leader – who will go through your week’s clients with you, discuss any questions that you might have and advise you on how you can work with the multidisciplinary team.
- You’ll complete around 4-5 hours of therapy in the day including face to face and administrative tasks. Those on their second year in 4+2 pathway, might increase to six hours.
- Join a multidisciplinary case-conference to discuss complex clients and define the role you will be playing in the greater team for them to achieve their goals.
- Reach out to your NDIS care-coordinator and admin team about appointment bookings, funding for clients, support with referrals and diary coordination.
- Sign off for the day at around 5:00pm, depending on what your week ahead looks like – we are all about that work/life balance!

- You have a friendly and fun (possibly even wild!) nature
- You’re keen to be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team who are passionate about providing in-person therapy to those who would otherwise have none.
