Psychological Assessment Lead Early Start Australia

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a passionate Psychological Assessment Lead to join our team at West Leederville. This is a part-time opportunity.

What we offer you:

Early Start Australia is a national organisation – our clinics offer you the small practice feel with big corporate support.  We have friendly and well-organised administration teams booking appointments, invoicing and managing NDIS changes, leaving our therapists to get on with what is most important to them.

In addition to a competitive salary and the incredible professional development and supervision on offer, you will also have access to performance incentives, our Mental Health and Wellbeing Program, paid parental leave and a discount marketplace with hundreds of products at reduced prices from groceries to movie tickets.

The opportunity:

Providing early intervention and therapy services to support children and families maximising independence and participation, you will take responsibility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate psychological interventions based on an individual’s emotional, cognitive and physical needs in collaboration with the individuals, families and relevant others.

The Opportunity

In addition to your role as a psychologist within the organisation, the role is to provide a lead role in supporting the team with clinical assessments. The assessments may include:

  • Administering psychometric assessments with children in primary school, teenagers in high school, and students applying for special examination arrangements through School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) and for university.
  • Determining if an individual meets diagnostic criteria for Specific Learning Disorders (formerly known as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and/or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and / or intellectual disability.
  • Giftedness assessments.
  • The assessment of developmental milestones such as socio-emotional development and/ or the emergence of symptoms indicative of psychological disorders.

What you will be provided:

  • Characterful and stylish rooms in West Leederville to work from.
  • A diverse client base in a reputable long-standing clinic.
  • Highly flexible working arrangements.
  • Employee not contractor arrangements (full leave entitlements) and generous salary.
  • A team culture and environment that has been set up so that you will receive plenty of opportunities for connection and team support, rather than work in isolation.
  • CPD $ and days provided and encouraged.
  • Administrative and managerial support.
  • The opportunity to guide others while providing continuous review of the clinic’s assessment practices and processes.

The role will require the following skills:

  • Full registration with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority to practice as a psychologist.
  • Provide critical coaching and guidance to the assessment team of psychologists to support and develop their skills and ensure that assessments completed within the clinic are consistently valid and reliable and meet evidence-based practice guidelines. You will be supported to attain your board approved supervisor status if you have not already attained this.
  • Use your acute sense of assessment experience to analyse (and provide feedback on) written reports of developing psychologists to determine whether the client’s profile meets DSM-V TR diagnostic criteria for a neurodevelopmental disorder (such as SLD or ADHD).
  • Provide feedback to the clinical assessment team on the best approaches in conveying recommendations to parents, educators, and allied health professionals on evidence-based interventions to assist with learning, social, and/or behavioural difficulties identified through the assessment process.
  • Staying current with research and practice in assessments and presenting new developments in the field to the assessment team.
