Psychologist – Animal Therapy Clinic Discovery Skills Psychology

JOB DESCRIPTION

*Picture above is one of our therapy horses, Khashmir.

We are an animal-friendly practice

This is a unique opportunity to work as a clinician from a private practice located on acreage in Eagleby. We have horses, ponies, cats, pet rats, guinea pigs, and birds (we are open to other ideas, including the possibility of bringing your own pet to work). We offer evidence-based practice in an animal-friendly setting.

  • You will have your own room that you can float in and out of during sessions with clients depending on whether they prefer to be indoors or outdoors.
  • We support your preference to build a case load that is weighted around your preferred client base (children, teens or adults).
  • Days/hours (and corresponding pay as either an employee or contract) is negotiable – We are hoping to fill the position for 5 days (Monday to Friday). You can start with less days if you prefer / or you are transitioning out of another role.
  • You must:
    • Hold current registration with AHPRA as either provisional, general or endorsed psychologist;
    • Hold professional indemnity insurance;
    • Have a high work ethic and competence in evidence-based intervention and reflective practice;
    • Be willing to offer school and home visits (these would be very limited in frequency and distance);
    • Be willing to interact and help care for the therapy animals along with the rest of the team;
    • Be willing and able to participate in this active role (for example, kick a ball with the kids outside);
    • We are a small friendly team looking for someone who also likes to share a laugh with peers at work.
