Psychologist/Behaviour Support Practitioner Better Tomorrow Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Behaviour Support team in a permanent role based in Western Sydney. 

 

About the Role

The Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) will play a fundamental part in outlining a Positive Behaviour Support Plan for Participants with disabilities adding value in supporting their day to day life. This role will work closely with the company’s Participants, identify their goals, and develop personalised Behaviour Support Plans to ensure support services are provided accordingly.

 

Reporting to the Team Leader, this position will ensure the provision of behaviour support services to participants engaged in NDIS services and their families.

 

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide Positive Behaviour Support services to address participant’s behaviours of concern.
  • Developing and Implementing BSP strategies and reviewing them as needed.
  • Monitoring, reviewing and reporting restrictive practices and implementing the least restrictive option.
  • Developing data collection tools and reviewing data as required.
  • Conduct behavioural assessments, including functional behaviour assessment.
  • Knowledge of some of the behavioural based assessments utilised in behaviour support.
  • Develop case formulation(s) and hypothesis based on assessment.
  • Engage with stakeholders and run stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Work with stakeholders to redefine and update the behaviour support plan as required.
  • Coach and mentor other providers who are implementing the behaviour support plan.
  • Participate in trans-disciplinary practice within the team and consult with other relevant agencies.
  • Refer to other professionals or agencies as appropriate.
  • Maintain a high degree of professional awareness of current evidence-based best practices and research in behaviour support and ensure the application of these principles at all times.
  • Complete and comply with KPIs, billing, reporting and record keeping requirements associated with clients accessing behaviour support services under the NDIS.
  • Uphold and adhere to values and principles essential for Behaviour Support Practitioners as defined in the PBS Framework.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Recognised by the NDIS Commission as a Core, Proficient, Advanced or Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner.
  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, Social Work, or Counselling with active professional membership with the associated governing association.
  • Experience working with Participants, staff and families utilising a Positive Behaviour Support approach within the NDIS space.
  • Ability to manage own workflow without supervision, including the scheduling/ rescheduling of appointments.
  • Practical experience in delivering services within natural learning environments e.g. home, educational, and community-based settings.
  • Experience working within a Person Centred approach.
  • Experience in the disability and/or community sector.
  • A passion for a capacity building approach and Participant’s rights.
  • Confidence in using new technologies.
  • Ability to interpret professional reports.
  • Current driver’s license, own car, and willingness to travel.
