JOB DESCRIPTION

The Glennie School is an Anglican school for girls in Toowoomba, providing an exceptional education for prep, primary, and secondary students with boarding from Year 5.  The School enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its programs, care and support offered to students, as well as the commitment, dedication, and professionalism of its staff.

About the role:

The Glennie School is seeking a full-time school Psychologist or Counsellor to be an integral part of our school community, providing high-quality counseling and support services to our students.  You will be joining a team of highly professional educators who are committed to providing an outstanding education experience for the students at Glennie.

You will be abreast of the current issues facing today’s young women and be a central part of delivering programs in conjunction with the pastoral care team that promote resilience, personal growth, and wellbeing to our students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The Glennie School prides its shelf on the values that are imparted to students and will require the successful applicant to be supportive of the Anglican Ethos and comply with all state and legislative requirements under the operation of an independent school.  

As a Psychologist, you will:

  • be a registered Psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA); eligibility for membership of the Australia Psychological Society
  • have a demonstrated knowledge of, and preferably skills in, the administration of various Psycho-educational assessment tools.

As a Counsellor, you will:

  • be a registered Counsellor under the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)

To be successful, you will also:

  • be able to conduct and advise on specialist assessments of cognitive, emotional and behavioural needs
  • be able to work effectively with students and their families and apply a range of evidence-based interventions and counselling appropriate for different issues and stages of development
  • hold a current Working with Children Check
  • experience in working in a similar environment and/or position is preferred but not essential
  • a sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • capacity to maintain confidentiality, discretion and deal respectfully with sensitive student matters and personal information.
