Job location

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. We address the needs of people experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community. These services are delivered through inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison-based services at several locations.

This position will be based at Thomas Embling Hospital which is located in Fairfield, just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Thomas Embling Hospital is a 136-bed secure hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care programs. It  also includes a dedicated women’s unit.

 

About the Role:

Joining our supportive, friendly and growing psychology team, this role will be based within Thomas Embling Hospital, as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and working alongside other members of the psychology team. With the opportunity to gain varied experience, the role involves provision of specialist evidence-based assessment and intervention for adult patients presenting with complex mental health issues and offending behaviour. Other key duties including contributing to patient risk assessment and risk management in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, and providing discipline-specific contributions to clinical practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to ensure effective relating to consumers, other staff, carers/significant others and external agencies/services.

About You:

  • Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery
  • Experience of working with adults with complex mental health issues 
  • Experience of working in forensic and/or related services, and in multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Knowledge and expertise in relevant evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions 

 

What you need:

  • Masters or Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology from an APAC accredited course or equivalent OR Doctoral qualification in Forensic Psychology from an APAC accredited course or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.

COVID19 & Influenza Vaccination Evidence

Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status. The current orders require evidence of three doses for COVID-19.

Acceptable evidence is a copy of your Immunisation History Statement which can be accessed via MyGov.
