Psychologist Invisible Partners

JOB DESCRIPTION

We know you.  You’ve been a Psychologist for a long time, managing complex caseloads, perhaps at the pointy end of mental health in a community or public setting.  You’ve harboured the desire to make the transition to private practice, but the timing and context have never been quite right.

You’re not ready or willing to go ‘all in’ and work for yourself. You value your time and energy and want to focus your efforts on seeing clients, not building a referral base or starting a business from scratch. But you also want the flexibility to manage your own diary and to work in a way that feels right for you.

This is the beauty of being a part of a group practice. You get the best of both worlds. The freedom to work independently, with the reassurance that you have administrative and collegial support behind you.

The clinic we’re representing is a well-established, progressive, ethical and nurturing clinic who are growing their wonderful team of therapists, in CBD Melbourne and Northern Western Melbourne Suburbs.

We’re hiring for a seasoned Psychologist who has the capacity to work for 2 days a week or more.

Here is what you’ll love:

The philosophy of the practice sums up what they offer perfectly

“We take care of our therapists so that they can take care of their clients.”

The Support Team.  The first-class Support Team will take away the admin and practice management burden from you and ensure your clients have a seamless experience. In practical terms, they’ll provide you with a comprehensive induction, take care of cancellations, rescheduling, follow-ups, waiting lists, setting up Medicare and, of course, intake for your new clients. They’ll provide a supportive boundary between you and clients on your days off and ensure you’re not working into the small hours, playing catch up on your emails.  Sounds good, right?

Freedom to work the way you want to. You have full autonomy to decide which clients you feel comfortable working with, how you work, what you charge and when you have space to see new clients. You’ll be matched with clients who best suit your strengths, experience and therapeutic style. This practice doesn’t work with third parties or provide assessments, which means you’re not going to find yourself buried under a pile of paperwork. Instead you can reserve your energy for your clients and your life beyond work!

Beautiful spaces. You and your clients will enjoy the benefits of working in beautiful appointed rooms, filled with character and thought.

Professional development and connection. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn and grow with other team members. Group supervision, facilitated discussions, in-depth workshops and team meetings will help you to keep your private practice life interesting and engaging. You’ll also have plenty of hands-on support from the practice director who is a passionate and experienced clinical psychologist and board-approved supervisor. You’ll feel the freedom of being in a private practice, knowing that there’s a team of people ready to provide support and a listening ear when you need it.

What you bring:

  • A breadth and depth of experience working with a wide range of presenting issues, together with a clear sense of the limits of your competency
  • A curious mind, with an openness to feedback and self-reflection, including exploring your own countertransference
  • A capacity to provide stable, reliable and consistent support to clients
  • A passion for mental health and a willingness to “walk the talk”, for example in terms of your own self-care and boundaries
  • A proactive, transparent and collaborative communication style
  • A genuine desire to connect with others and be an active part of a team
  • A demonstrated commitment to individual supervision and ongoing professional development
  • Strong organisational and written communication skills
  • Eligibility for registration with Medicare
  • The capacity to see clients at least two days a week

If you’re interested and want to begin the process with a confidential and non-committal discussion, then please get in touch with Talent Partner Sarah Piper via email at [email protected]

If you’re ready to submit your application, please send your CV along with a cover letter to the same email address.
