Canteen provides young people impacted by cancer, and their parents, with access to a team of Allied Health Professionals who deliver programs, counselling and a range of group and individual support activities across Australia.

Background into this Role
Young people affected by Cancer are up to six times more likely to face mental health issues like depression and anxiety than their peers, and sometimes these mental health concerns can override the cancer related support that young people and families initially sought from Canteen.

Canteen’s Youth Leadership team have identified that long wait lists and high gap payments mean young people and families living with cancer are often not able to access the psychological support they need. In response to this, we have created an in-house private psychology clinic- the Canteen Clinic.

About this Role
This exciting new offering allows young people and families to access high quality, bulk-billed psychological support from skilled clinicians, whilst still remaining connected to services they are familiar with at Canteen.
If you have an interest in oncology, youth mental health, grief and loss and the complexity that physical illness can bring to mental ill health, this is the role for you. Hours are flexible and can complement existing private practice or employment.

Psychological services will be bulk billed with not out of pocket costs for young people and their parents. Contractors will receive 75% of Medicare Billings for services, with comprehensive administrative support provided by Canteen. This role will be primarily telehealth based, with the option to utilise Canteen State Office rooms for consultations on occasion. Also, this role will contribute to the safety and quality of care for service users and their families to ensure continuous improvement of service delivery.
