Wombats Wish Victoria – Clinical Lead Position – Psychologist/Mental Health Social Worker– Part-time (min 0.4-0.7 depending on candidate) initial 12-month contract

About us 

At Wombat’s Wish, our Mission is to support parentally bereaved children and young people through their lifecycle of grief.

Based in Geelong / Bellarine, we have supported Victorian children and their families through weekend camp programs for over 15 years. Based on the highly regarded Winston’s Wish program in the UK, our Camp program is therapeutic, and provided by a team of professional facilitators and trained volunteers.

Due to the increasing demand for services and our expanded service offering, we have a newly created role focused on making a difference in the lives of families we support.

We are looking for a purpose-driven Clinical lead to support our management team in providing existing services and developing new and innovative support options.

About the role 

Our vision is to be leaders in child bereavement support, influencing thriving communities for generations. 

The responsibilities of the role are:

  • Provide evidence-based professional services to our clientele with their area of expertise.
  • Provide scientific, evidence-based individual and/or group support and counselling to children, young people and adults who have experienced significant bereavement in their family.
  • You’ll be involved in developing and delivering services to children & families on an individual and group basis throughout our existing flagship weekend camps programs and through our expansion into 1:1 support, small group support and broader community support.

We will provide (but are not limited to):

  • Flexibility to negotiate work/life balance with minimum expectations to attend some weekend camps, some out-of-hours/outreach work and office-based team meetings.
  • Flexibility to negotiate preference for telehealth/work from home and clinic work. Office space and a clinic room will be made available
  • Competitive remuneration rates 
  • Co-ordination and support from the Director of Clinical Services, including peer supervision

Essential criteria required for this role include:

  • Full registration with AHPRA or AASW or registration as a clinical social worker and eligibility to provide psychological therapy services through Medicare Rebate Scheme
  • Experience working from a trauma-informed approach with children between 5-18 years and their families. 
  • Working with Children Check and ability to work freely in Australia
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
