About the Role:

  • Pioneer a new service that aims to improve the way our health facility provides culturally responsive support, counselling and advocacy for children, young people, adults and families who are surviving or have survived violence, abuse and neglect.
  • The Clinician position is suited for a new graduate or early career professional who are motivated to develop specialist abilities.
  • You will join a small team of dedicated staff and provided access to comprehensive orientation, high quality professional development and clinical supervision.

Where you’ll be working:
About the team:

  • The team will provide delivery of NSW Health Sexual Assault and Child Protection Counselling Services to communities across Inverell, Tingha, Glen Innes, Warialda and Tenterfield.
  • The team will integrate with the Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention Facilitator at Armidale Community Health Centre and develop a new service model to better engage and meet the needs of local Aboriginal communities.
  • This will include forming strong partnerships with local Aboriginal services internal and external to Health.

  • Inverell is the traditional lands of the Kamilaroi Nation situated on the McIntyre River, close to the Queensland border.
  • This is the second largest Aboriginal nation on the east coast of Australia and covers beautiful lands rich with fertile soil, running rivers and majestic eucalypts and granite boulders. It is also known as the “Sapphire City” – renowned for supplying the world with sapphires.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a qualification: Psychology, Social Work, Counsellor which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence and ability to travel as part of the role within an outreach capacity.
